And so it begins...

It is spring and time for a bit of website cleaning. This means reviewing comments from users about the existing website and making improvements and adjustments for a pleasurable user viewing experience. Also now is the time where I get to play around with different applications to enhance the functionality of the site as well.

I expect the process to last through the month of May with June 1st being the launch of a new site design. Part of the redesign will be introducing a content management system to the website at the same time. I have spent the past month looking between different systems and have narrowed the options down to two: Drupal and Joomla. As I had difficulty deciding between the two I will design the site in parallel between the two applications.

The easy part is over I have a test server environment setup using Fedora 10 for the operating system. I have also setup the two CMS instances (Drupal and Joomla), and have also decided on a template style I will use. Now I will need to convert my redesign into the two CMS instances and will be interested in seeing if my final selection (for CMS) matches my current leanings after only performing the installation.
